Mayans at The Met!

We have the incredibly good fortune to spend our Fridays at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.  I have never been in a more amazing museum.  In nine months of Fridays we still have not seen everything.  Every week there is a new discovery.  Although the collection of ancient Mayan artifacts is small, compared say to the Greek and Roman collections, the pieces on display still have the ability to transport you to another time and place.  Having traveled to the Yucatan before studying the Maya, I long to return with my new-found knowledge of this mysterious and epic civilization.  Here are some photos of  a few of our favorite pieces.
